℗ PRESTON HIRE RACING - The 2016 Australian Quarter Scale Titles
Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of March The 2016 Australian Quarter Scale Titles were held at Luddenham Quarter Scale Speedway in Sydney.
As always the Australian Titles gather a large crowd of very experienced drivers from all over the country.
We had over 61 cars entered and over 30 or so drivers. Some drivers racing up to 4 different categories.
The weekend was full of excitement and had its ups and downs. Grahame spent a good part of the weekend working with the NSW Committee to ensure the event ran smoothly and the event was a great success. Everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and there were a lot of new friends made.
GCC Motorsports/Preston Hire Racing was again well represented and the team did their best and it certainly paid off.

Placings after Day 1 Grahame Tied first place in his Sprintcar and Corey Tied in second position - only 1 point behind.
Placings for the Amca divison saw Grahame in second place and Caine in third place.
After some evening track prep by Grahame and the 2 boys, they worked late into the evening to ensure the track was ready for Day 2.
Day 2 was going to be very exciting day.

Corey dnf. A car jumped the start and the race was stopped. Unfortunately a car didn’t stop in time and hit Corey from behind and he was unable to start the race due to the damaged caused to his car.

Final points going into the final placed Grahame out of pole position in the 35 Lap Sprintcar Final with Corey in 5th position. It was a tough start with quite a few accidents early on. Grahame had a very strong lead and while overtaking slower cars a West Australian competitor turned down and collided with Grahame’s causing substantial suspension damage and finishing his race. The pressure was then on young Corey to do the team proud. Corey fought the tough field to gain the lead and lead for the rest of the race. A stoppage 5 laps before the end saw Corey make a very small Mistake which allowed Mitchell Rooke from Queensland slide through and Corey tried to chase him down. Unfortunately Corey was unable to catch Mitchell and he secured 2nd place.

Grahame dnf leading the race and was overtaking lapped traffic when a west oz driver turned down hitting the rear end causing substantial damage and was unable to finish the race.

Final points for the Amca final saw Grahame starting out of 2nd position and Caine starting out of 3rd position.
Grahame took the lead early in the race and ran away form the field. Caine did a sensational job in his first ever Australian title. It was a tough rac and the 2 West Australian Competitors didn’t finish the race due to mechanical issues but Grahame Finished in 1st place and Caine finished in second giving Preston Hire Racing a 1 – 2 Finish.

This weekend has again shown the GCC Motorsports/Preston Hire Racing team has got what it takes when competing in these bigger events and they take their racing seriously always striving to be on the Podium!
