As a company whose role is to support others in their endeavors, Preston Hire sees it as a corporate responsibility to also support organisations doing good work in the community.
Some of the issues these organisations address have touched our team at Preston Hire – some may have touched you; all deserve our support and we hope that through working with them, contributing to them and spreading their message we can assist them in their vital and often life-saving work.
The Black Dog Institute
One in five Australians is affected by mental illness every year,
with one of the most common of these being depression. It touches people
of all ages and from all walks of life, and places an enormous burden
on individuals, families, workplaces and the health system.
The Black Dog Institute was founded in 2002 and is a world-leader in
the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of depression, bipolar disorder
and suicide – with a focus on the rapid translation of quality research
into improved clinical practice, increased accessibility of resources
for those in need, and delivery of long-term public health solutions.
Sadly we know firsthand, from a tragedy with one of our own team,
that mental health issues can affect anyone at any time and the
devastating impact it can have.
So, in a fundraising initiative for the Black Dog Institute, Preston
Hire is painting the 50th crane in our SuperCranes fleet black and will
be donating $5,000 from the new Maeda MC-405C mini crane’s hire
(February to November 2015) to the Black Dog Institute to help in their
efforts to improve mental health in the community.
Additionally, we are actively promoting the initiative and urging our
customers to support the Institute and will be matching
dollar-for-dollar any contributions up to $5,000 made to the Black Dog
Institute by our customers during this period.

Cystic Fibrosis Australia
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening genetic
condition in Australia. Currently incurable, the condition affects many
of the body’s systems, including lungs and digestion, leading to
lifelong medical treatments and physiotherapy and too often resulting in
early death from lung failure.
Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA), a not-for-profit organisation and
the national body supporting people with CF and their families, plays a
huge role in research, education and advocacy and organises national
fundraising campaigns such as ‘65 Roses’ to raise awareness of CF and
help improve the quality of life of people living with the condition.
In a fundraising initiative for Cystic Fibrosis Australia in 2015, we
will be painting one of our SuperDeck™ loading platforms with CFA’s
rose symbol and will be donating $5,000 from the platform’s hire
(February to November 2015) to CFA to assist them in their vital work
helping those affected by Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
Additionally, we are actively promoting the initiative and urging our
customers to support CFA and will be matching dollar-for-dollar any
contributions up to $5,000 made to CFA by our customers during this
period.
This is also a very personal commitment for Preston Hire Group as
Toby, the four-year-old nephew of our Group Managing Director, Markus
Preston, has been battling the life-threatening illness since birth.

Animal Welfare League of Queensland
The Animal Welfare League of Queensland takes care of approximately
10,000 strayed and abandoned animals annually from South East
Queensland. The AWLQ receives no Government funding for welfare work,
relying predominantly on the community for support.
When AWLQ was short on storage space during their relocation, Preston
Hire donated much-needed storage to assist the rescue group with their
move.We are now speaking with AWLQ about ongoing support for their kind and valuable work in caring for animals in need.
