PRESTON HIRE RACING FIND FOOTING AT ALBERT PARK
Preston Hire Racing have made solid adjustments for their Championship Season at the non for points Australian Grand Prix round in Melbourne over the weekend.
Preston Hire Racing finished P21 and P23 in the practice rounds, opting to run on old tyres while the rest of the track ran on greens.
Driver Lee Holdsworth saw slight improvement in Qualifying, finishing in P20 to start Race 1.
"It feels like we have a better car now than we did at Clipsal, we made a couple of changes after practice and tried to tune it up for the weekend,” Holdsworth said.
Race 1 saw a strong start for Holdsworth at Albert Park, climbing 5 places and finishing P15.
The Rolling Grid start meant a P15 start in Race 2 for Holdsworth, but a hit from Wood in the first lap meant a P19 finish.
The engineering and mechanical crew made adjustments to the car throughout the night, with Holdsworth then finishing P14 in Race 3.
The car was again altered for Race 4, but a poor race start lead to the Number 18 car finishing P19.
Preston Hire Racing Owner Charlie Schwerkolt believes that they have made a lot of ground in Melbourne, further developing their understanding of the Triple Eight Commodore.
"As a brand new team we are still making continuous adjustments, which can make it a bit to hard to understand the car in some ways,” Schwerkolt said.
"It has been a huge learning weekend for both the team and Lee, we had to make the changes to the car to learn about it, what makes it tick and what makes it go quick,” he continued.
Preston Hire Racing are now back to their home garage to make adjustments prior to the next round.
"We will have a quick turnaround for Tasmania, we will take all our engineering info to Triple Eight and find all the positives that we need to set up a fast car for the Symmons Plains circuit," Schwerkolt said.
Preston Hire Racing are now in preparation for Round 2 of the 2016 V8 Supercars Championship at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint on April 1-3 with all races to be televised LIVE on FOX Sports.
