PRESTON HIRE Racing - Ready for Sydney 500

Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth is gearing up for the last Races of the season at the Sydney 500 for the final round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Holdsworth has had a rich history at the Sydney Olympic Park Circuit, with continued success at the front of the field and a Race Win.

"I HAVE SOME GREAT MEMORIES FROM OLYMPIC PARK CIRCUIT, I’VE HAD 5 FRONT ROW STARTS, 3 POLE POSITIONS AND 1 RACE WIN."

Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt and the team is excited to head to Sydney and cap their season off on a high.

"IT’S OBVIOUSLY BEEN A MASSIVELY TOUGH YEAR, WITH OUR CRASH IN DARWIN, SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN REDEEM SOME GOOD RESULTS AT HOMEBUSH. LEE AND THE TEAM ARE IN REALLY GOOD SPIRITS SO WE ARE ALL REALLY EXCITED FOR THE FINAL RACE."

The Homebush track will feature on the Supercars Calendar in 2016 for the final time this weekend.

"I HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF HOMEBUSH WRAPPING UP THE TITLE IN 2010, I’M REALLY EXCITED TO GET THERE FOR THE FINAL TIME, IT WILL BE QUITE SAD NOT GOING BACK THERE AND IT’S AN AMAZING FACILITY AND IT WILL BE MISSED."

The street circuit format is one that Holdsworth favours, following their success at the Gold Coast 600 where the team finished 7th in Race 2, the best result so far this year.

"I FEEL WE HAVE A GOOD CAR FOR STREET CIRCUITS AND OUR FORM AT THE GOLD COAST CONFIRMED THAT. OLYMPIC PARK CIRCUIT HAS VERY SIMILAR CORNER CHARACTERISTICS SO I EXPECT TO HAVE A GOOD CAR TO FIGHT WITH."

As the Sydney 500 marks the final round of the year, Holdsworth is proud of what the team has achieved and is looking to cap the season off on a high.

"IT’S OBVIOUSLY BEEN A VERY DIFFICULT YEAR FOR PLENTY OF REASONS BUT I AM REALLY PROUD OF THE WAY THE TEAM’S BEEN ABLE TO BOUNCE BACK. IT’S ONLY OUR FIRST YEAR AS A TEAM SO I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE IN 2017 WITH MORE EXPERIENCE AND WITH SOME EXCITING CHANGES. IT WOULD BE A GREAT REWARD FOR EVERYONE TO FINISH THE YEAR ON A HIGH! THAT’S CERTAINLY MY AIM GOING INTO THE FINAL ROUND."

Round 14 of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, The Sydney 500, will be held on December 2-5, with all races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports and full coverage on Network 10.
