Preston Hire - Radio Controlled Car Racing Team flag at the Penrith District Nitro Racing’s Sunday Series event.
Grahame qualified 4th out of 6 cars in 1/8 GT.
Corey top qualified (1st) doing 2 laps more than the rest of the field in Junior Tourer in his best qualifying session..
Caine qualified a healthy 3rd and the battle between the 2 x brothers was on.
The 20 minute final started and Grahame got of to a slow start having engine starting troubles on the starting grid and missing the start. The junior pit crew consisting of Corey and Caine, got the car going and off we went. Being quite a few laps down it was definitely a struggle but consistent laps times were definitely helping in chasing down the leaders.. Grahame got up into 3rd position on lap 13 of the race and kept fighting to make back the laps lost. Once the chequered flag went out he was still13 laps behind, but came home a respectable 3rd.
1/10th Junior Tourer
Corey had a slow start and was 3rd over the loop for the first lap, this didn’t last long as he quickly got into 1st place and was in 1st place on lap 2. He dominated until lap 23 a refuelling stopped saw he engine flame out and he slipped back to 2 for just one lap. Once back on the track the rest of the race went like clockwork travelling a distance of 49 laps and finishing 7 laps ahead of 2nd position.
Caine had engine issues on the start line and was slow out of pit lane. He slipped back to 4th and by 5 he managed to jump into 3rd before an incident saw his side drive belt fly off and he limped back to the pits. The belt was re installed and Caine battled on lap 25 Caine got into 3rd place and tried to run down his big brother. Caine finished in 3rd position, we now have a 1 – 3 Preston Hire Racing finish for the first time this year.
Next Major event will be the NSW ¼ Scale Speedway Championship - Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November.
